My girl is quite the little mama. She doesn't like it when little brother sucks on his hands. She'll say "no" then as she pulls his hand out of his mouth she'll say "eating" then "mouth". Once his hand is out she'll say "ewe, gross" and wipe the slobber off his hand. She loves to help give him his baths. Sometimes, she's a little too willing and I have to make sure the water cup is put away, so she doesn't try to dump water over her head. I limit her to washing his tummy & legs. She loves to help. She loves to give him hugs & kisses. She notices when he spits up and will say "uh-oh mess". When he's just slobbering, she'll take his blanket to dab at his mouth - this happens pretty frequently because he's always drooling. Whenever I am holding the little man when putting her down for a nap or bedtime, she expects a kiss from him (this is usually very slobbery) and then a kiss from Mom.
Little brother is already beating up on big sister. He likes to pull her hair, touch her if she's within arms reach and grab at anything he can. She will just sit there and cry/whine or say "no no no!" Hopefully she'll start to learn to stand up for herself. He's very smiley and happy and always going 100 miles a minute. Seriously, this kid has fast twitch muscles for sure. Always kicking and moving his arms. Tonight in the bathtub, I had to add water to the baby tub like 4 times because he was thrashing around so much, most of the water was gone. And he's already doing the "scoot down to taste the water" thing. Carly didn't do that for a long time, but he'll even throw a leg over the side of the tub and scoot down a ton. It cracks me up! He has been loving his exersaucer and is able to gradually turn 360 degrees and make his way to play with all his toys. It was perfect today as I was being all domestic in the kitchen - he didn't last very long in his bouncer chair, but lasted long enough in his exersaucer.
I've been desperate to get the little man to sleep better. In the past week I've slept in the bonus room, had nights where he wakes up 30min-1 hr, etc. Yes, you are only beginning to understand my desperation. I've been reading different books from the library and came across "
The Baby Sleeps Tonight" just this week. I am loving it. I think it's just what I need. It's basically putting your baby on a schedule and gradually increasing wake-times during the day to get baby to sleep through the night. I was opposed to this idea initially, because I thought I should just feed the baby when he's hungry & put him down when he's tired. However, I am noticing he can do the intervals it suggests. We're only on day 3 right now, but being as desperate as I am, I'm thinking it'll be worth it to try a schedule and see if that's what my little man needs. (I've really enjoyed the book - so because it's a library copy I've been typing notes & happy to share them if anyone wants to learn more.)
We went to Vancouver a couple weeks back and visited our good friends. She is a great cook and I learned some great things from her. 1st substitute greek yogurt instead of sour cream. 2nd Costco has awesome pita/flat bread. And a lot of other things, but those are the two main things I'm going to discuss. I have been putting greek yogurt in everything now - cake, brownies, salad dressing, substituting as sour cream with various meals - it's awesome. I'm also obsessed with
these pitas. My favorite things so far: peanut butter pita, turkey/cheese/avocado/tomato/spring mix pita, pitas as navajo tacos and pitas as pizza crust.
