Family visit
It was so fun to see my family this weekend. And of course Carly & Benson loved all the extra attention. My only mixed feelings stem from the fact that I'm used to being Carly's best friend and she absolutely adores Grandma & Grandpa, so it was hard for me to be only 2nd or 3rd best :( I guess that's how it goes when all your Grandmas & Grandpas are so fun!
King Platform Bed
We made our bed in 1 day. This is just the base of the bed - we still are planning to make a headboard. April has turned out to be quite busy with birthday events, family visiting and Morgan has been taking an implant course. We probably won't get to that project until next month. So here's part 1 of our finished bed! I love how our room is turning out so far.
I made the sunburst mirror above our bed and we painted our room gray. For some reason I have just been in love with the gray color scheme I've seen online. It's coming along! (Fun fact: My make-up mirror on the dresser belonged to my Grandmother.)

April projects
My husband is amazing. We decided we wanted a King sized bed in our room, so after searching online for plans and not finding what we were looking for, Morgan designed our bed. We put together our shopping list & cut list and got to work. We have some great neighbors with a table saw - we definitely couldn't have cut our 4x4 without them :)
My sanding station. Fancy! I know :)Morgan designed the bed so that we could use bolts to hold it together. We wanted a bed that we could take apart and put back together. So here it is. We did 2x10's for the sides & head and a 2x12 for the baseboard. We're planning to add a headboard later.
Benson is just cheering us on as we go!
(And drooling away!)
Morgan's drilling station.
I did all the pre-stain conditioning & staining. (Life lesson learned: Try really hard not to get stain on your skin. Otherwise it will take days to get rid of.)
Morgan put in these little "shelves" to hold some 2x4 braces.
Here is a project that I did ALL on my own. Ok technically Morgan cut the wood. I did sanding, staining, chalk painting, and some more sanding for the antique look. I am very pleased with the outcome.
Close up of the corner.
Easter
When I think of Easter - I often think of the quote from Nacho Libre, "Do you not realize I have had diarrhea since Easters?" Best movie. I'm looking forward to watching this movie again real soon for Cinco De Mayo! Woot!
Carly loved her easter basket. She got some quick-dry nail polish - so we painted her fingernails & toenails.
This girl loves a good etch-a-sketch. This will be fun for learning the ABC's with Dora!
Benson had a good old time playing with the empty eggs.
Carly loved her pretty new dress. She said "Ooooh! Pretty." She's twirling in her dress.
Mr. Benson was looking nice for church. He's great at sitting up these days. And we're so close to crawling!
Easter egg hunt with friends!
At least they were all looking, right? :)
